Food and Drink

Students can choose to
eat either in Formal Hall (which operates as a salad bar at lunch
time) or in the College Buttery. Both provide a good choice of reasonably
priced meals, and vegetarian (but not vegan, kosher or halal) options
are routinely offered. As a way of keeping prices low, every student
whose dietary requirements can be catered for is required to pay
a kitchen fixed charge of approximately £105 per term. This covers
all the overheads: thereafter, the food students buy is offered
more or less at cost price.

College's Catering Manager, Mr Ricardo Chieppa, and his team. Please

Whilst it is assumed that
most students will make substantial use of these communal facilities,
student accommodation in Clare is also provided with some limited
facilities for self-catering. On average, each kitchen is shared
between three students, and is equipped for students to be able
to prepare snacks and light meals.
There are two Bars in
the College: one adjacent to the JCR, and the other in the MCR,
which is used largely by Graduate Students. The JCR Bar is normally
open from 12.30-1.30 pm and from 6 pm to 11.30 pm daily. Students
assist in its running on nights where there is an Event in the JCR,
which is an extremely popular venue for live music and DJ nights.
