The Tutorial SystemStudents through archway

A focus on providing guidance, pastoral care and, where needed, financial support to every student, is one of the great strengths of the collegiate system. Each undergraduate and graduate has a specified personal Tutor, independent from their academic work, who meets with students at the start of their time at Clare, and is available twice a week during term thereafter, to be consulted in confidence on any personal or academic matter as the need arises.

Clare is committed to maintaining this individual Tutorial provision, so that every student can gain maximum benefit from their time at Cambridge

Clare employs eight Tutors to provide pastoral care to students. The costs of two Tutors are generously met by The Nicholas Hammond Foundation (an independent charity), and of another by an individual benefaction. The College's strategic objective is to secure the funding of the remaining five posts, through annual funding or endowment.

Named Tutorships

Clare is happy to name a Tutorship according to the donor's wishes. A donation of £3,120, made under the Gift Aid scheme, is sufficient to fund a Tutorship for one year. For further information, please contact the Development Director.
