The Clare Online Community
This site is organised by matriculation year-group (i.e. the year you came up to Clare), with every year-group having its own dedicated web-page. A special feature of each page is a high-resolution electronic scan of the year-group's original matriculation photograph. This means that, if you cannot remember a person's name, you can click on a face in the photograph to call up that individual's entry. Alternatively, you can select a name from a drop-down list. Clicking on a face or selecting a name will allow you to view the information for the selected person.
Name, year of matriculation and subject of study - all of which are publicly available information - are given for all members. Any further information is included only where express permission has been given by the individual concerned. Personal details can be added or updated using an online update form, by contacting your Year-Group Representative (details available from the Alumni Officer), or by emailing the Alumni Officer directly (alumni@clare.cam.ac.uk).
The online directory, accessible from the password-protected site, allows you to search the entire database of Clare members, by name, year or subject of study. A list of 'lost members' may also be viewed, and it is hoped that this facility will encourage those who have lost contact with the College to get back in touch.
In due course, it is hoped that members will wish to post additional articles and even photographs on their year-group web-pages, turning the facility into a dynamic online community.
The Clare Online Community and Year-Group Representative Scheme are run by the Alumni Officer (alumni@clare.cam.ac.uk) at Clare College with the sole purpose of encouraging and fostering contacts among members of Clare and between members and the College. Members of Clare are a community whose ideas, advice and support are always welcome to the College, and through which the College is strengthened. In turn, Clare is committed to continue providing access to knowledge, networking opportunities, and hospitality to members after they leave College.
Every member remains equally welcome to visit Clare and enjoy the benefits of the College community, at all times.
