MALLINSON GRADUATE STUDENTSHIP IN MODERN AND MEDIEVAL LANGUAGES

NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE

The Mallinson Research Studentship in Modern and Medieval Languages is intended to provide funding for up to a maximum of three years at the European Union rate of fees for a student registered for the PhD degree in the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages.  Applicants from outside the European Union will be expected to obtain an ORS award, or equivalent funding, to make up the full amount of the University fees at the overseas rate.  At current rates the studentship will cover each year: University Fees currently of £3,240; College Fees of £2,073; and Maintenance of £12,600.  This would be the equivalent of AHRC funding;  some further funding for travel and research expenses may also be available.  The successful applicant would be expected to withdraw from AHRC or other funding applications on acceptance of the Mallinson Studentship.

Applicants for the studentship must name Clare College as their college of first choice on the Board of Graduate Studies Application Form for Admission as a Graduate Student, or be prepared to change college if offered the studentship.  The closing date for applications is 1st May 2008 for entry on 1st October of the same year.  Applicants will be informed of the decisions reached by the Mallinson Committee by 31st May 2008.

Applications, addressed to the Graduate Administrator, Clare College, Trinity Lane, Cambridge CB2 1TL (email: smg44@cam.ac.uk), should include a curriculum vitae, details of applications for other grants, and the intended programme of research, including no more than one A4 page describing the proposed research project.  Please arrange for two confidential references, including details of likely degree result if relevant, to be sent directly to the College.
