Annual Events
A number of the events that we arrange here in college take place annually - see below for details.
Interview Preparation Day
When? Mid-October
Where? Clare College
Who? Year 13 students who have just applied to Oxbridge
What? A whole day programme centring on the Cambridge Interview process, with talks from the SLO on how to deal with practicalities on the day, mock interviews by the people who do them and tips from our two Admissions Tutors on how to make the most of the experience.
This event is open to all Oxbridge applicants from schools in our Link Areas.
Sponsors' Mentor Scheme
When? Year-round
Where? Various locations
Who? Year 12 students in Hackney and Tower Hamlets schools
What? Each of our sponsor companies provides its own employees as mentors for this scheme. There are four sessions spaced out over the year, each focusing on a different aspect of applying to university and life after leaving school.
Access Bus
When? Late March
Where? Schools in Coventry, Warwickshire, Manchester and Stockport
Who? School students from Year 7-12
What? Groups of three or four current undergraduates tour an area for a week, trying to visit as many schools as they can. They deliver workshops and talks about university life, and give school students the opportunity to ask all those questions they would never ask their teacher.
University Teachers Conference
When? April
Where? Various Cambridge Colleges
Who? Secondary school teachers
What? A three day conference including talks by various Admissions Tutors and senior policy makers from the University. This is a great opportunity to learn everything there is to learn about Cambridge, its courses and the admissions process.
If you or your school would be interested in getting involved with any of these schemes then please contact the SLO. |
