Undergraduates

The Clare College Student Handbook, which since October 2001 has been web-based, aims to provide essential practical information about Clare College for those who live and work here. You will almost certainly need to refer to it from time to time.

The scope of this Handbook is mainly local, specific to Clare. It is not an encyclopaedia of Cambridge, and it does not aim to reproduce material which can be found in University, Faculty or CUSU (Cambridge University Students' Union) publications. The University produces its own Student Handbook, and the Guide to Courses, as well as the authoritative Statutes and Ordinances. CUSU distributes a Freshers' Guide, an Overseas Students' Welcome Guide, and a Welfare Handbook.  Then there are Faculty Guides and Departmental Handbooks, information booklets and sheets from scores of clubs and societies, leaflets and packages from the Careers Service and the Counselling Service, the Computing Service and the Language Centre. You can also tour the ever-growing number of University, College and Student-generated websites. While it would be unrealistic to expect anybody to study all these sources of information in detail, you should try to familiarise yourself with the basic contents of those which are relevant to you, so as to know where you can find information when you need it.

We welcome your input into future revisions of this Handbook. Comments, corrections and suggestions should be sent to the Senior Tutor's Assistant in the Tutorial Office.
