Out of Hours

If you need medical advice when the Health & Welfare Centre is closed please contact your GP.   Contact details for which can be found below in Useful Links.

Overnight and at weekends CAMDOC is the local Out of Hours Emergency Doctors' Service and can be contacted on 01223 464242. It is manned by local GPs and practice nurses and you will receive advice/treatment either on the phone or at Chesterton Medical Centre.  If necessary you will receive a home visit.

Please remember that CAMDOC is for conditions which can not wait until your GP practice is open.

In an extreme emergency the nearest casualty is at Addenbrooke’s hospital.  An extreme emergency is a condition such as a suspected broken bone, road accident, a severe wound that requires stitching, suspected heart attack or any other life threatening condition. Minor ailments can be treated by your GP or by CAMDOC 24 hours a day.

Please remember that all Porters are First Aid trained and should be the first port of call in an emergency.  They should always be contacted to help deliver care prior to the ambulance arriving and also to ensure that paramedics are promptly directed where necessary.
